I love wedding cakes tastings and the recent one with talented cake maker Rachel Hill  ( blew me away. Rachel works from home, which is a cozy and welcoming environment to meet. There are some samples of her cakes displayed and numerous books with references and pictures of her previous work.

The consultation lasts for just under an hour and can take place in the evenings, which suits any hard working person.

After a nice chat sharing our thoughts and ideas for the cake, we were presented with options of wedding cakes to try: Victoria sponge, Madeira, Chocolate, Lemon and traditional Fruit Cake. We particularly loved the chocolate, with its rich and moist quality.

To make the most out of the wedding cakes consultation, I suggest you bring any reference, colour samples, etc. that you like or might have already chosen as a wedding theme. Bring one of your invitations or save-the-dates, pictures of the venue, images you might fancy or cakes that you like. Creativity has no limits and the options sometimes can be too many. Rachel is good at channeling the inspiration but she can only do that if you come prepared.
